When Quitting is Not an Option

March 19, 2021

Spring is around the bend and many of us set all kinds of resolve and fire to meet our fitness and wellness goals. It’s been a heck of a year! We feel both determined and ready.

And then, a week or two in, maybe even some of us make it a month you begin to feel your commitment waiver. Comfort begins to take precedence over your goals to be fit and healthy.

Does this sound familiar?

And I will plead with you: please don’t quit.

I would love to share some key information with you so you have what it takes to take your health and wellness goals all the way to the finish line.

The Kate McKay method outlined in my book Living Sexy Fit takes a holistic approach to getting there. While eating clean and exercise are important and key elements to the plan, your inner work, or your Motivational Mojo, that “something” that makes you tick, is at the foundation of rocking your goals and living the breakthrough life you deserve.

What happens on the inside – your emotions, self-talk, patterns, and behaviors – have a direct impact on how you look and feel on the outside. That is why I emphasize so strongly the importance of your inner motivation, or your “mojo,” that inner magic that moves us beyond what we thought we could ever do.

Transformation is an inside job. Sure, your will and desire to succeed are important parts. But truly the most important element of being fit is fully accepting that you are worthy to live your life all out and to stay committed even when the desire to do the work has left the building!

Let’s start by going over the Five Components that make up the LIVING FIT lifestyle so you can get going immediately to go at your goals! I want you to be ragingly successful, so let’s go:

  1. FACE THE TRUTH – Get Real: Face what is!  If you are overweight, out of shape, full of self-loathing and self-doubt, it’s now time to be real with yourself and face the piper, because he’s not going anywhere until we muster the courage to stop kidding ourselves and blaming others. I know. It’s hard. I’ve been there. But this time you are ready. Can you feel it?

  2. RELEASE YOUR BAGGAGE – It’s time to let go, release what no longer serves you. OK, so you faced the music and now you have to figure out what luggage, emotionally speaking, you are carrying that you have to give the old heave-ho. People, habits, behaviors, and things. It’s amazing how much energy we spend on relationships, emotions, and things well past their expiration dates. Decide if it is worth it to re-up the contract or is it time to switch carriers altogether. Face the fact that it is now time for the loving and gentle boot.  You are worthy of great things; dimming your light for anyone or anything is no longer an option.

  3. CELEBRATION – Celebrate and Radiate. A big part of the Living FIT Lifestyle is “getting it,” that we are here to celebrate the uniqueness of who we are. These bodies we were given, even with their imperfections and battle wounds, are still to be celebrated.

And if we cannot celebrate us, who will? Stop waiting for permission to attain your goals. You were born with it.

Now is your time to shine and live your amazing breakthrough life. And THAT is cause for celebration. Confidence is contagious. To be confident, you have to believe that you can attain your goals and – the best part – KNOW YOU ARE WORTHY OF ATTAINING THEM!

  4. CLEAN EATING – Eat Clean: Self-respect begins at the lips. It’s true. How you fuel your body is a great place to practice self-love.  Eating healthy is a commitment to your highest and best self. You are worth this level of self-care. You will not only feel better, but you will also look better.

Eating well fuels the mind, body, and soul. Nutrition is 70% of the LIVING FIT game. Embracing this principle will give you the body you want and deserve. You’ll throw out the junk and fill your trunk with whole foods that nurture that inner champion.

  5. EXERCISE – Move It: Re-discover your pleasure of motion.  I know, aging can be a slippery slope. We get lulled into thinking that the couch and the clicker are way more attractive than moving our bodies and celebrating our freedom of motion.

It’s time to get moving because the truth is if you don’t use it, you will lose it. Reconnecting to our joy in moving our bodies in ways that reflect our inner beauty is a gift that so many of us squander. Make this no longer an option. Through moving your body in ways that resonate with you, you will experience not only a physical lift but an emotional one as well.

Life is a gift. That’s why we call it the “present”. Unwrap your gifts and do your day, THIS DAY, with a renewed commitment to making this coming season your best one yet. Embrace the fact that resistance is a part of the journey, not a wall that stops you so you turn around and give up.
